Dustin Boswell is looking for a good mortgage broker / lender
(around Marina del Rey, CA 90292)
I'd like to get pre-approved for a loan so I know what I can afford. Do people still use human brokers for this, or have websites replaced them? (Recommendations for either are welcome.) And is it better to shop around to lenders yourself (cut out the middleman) or can brokers get you deals that you can't yourself? ”

Trevor Boswell: I went to Bank of America , having it all together is great and you will be surprised at the rates they can offer 22 months ago
Catherine Gerding: Do you need a realtor?? 22 months ago
Dustin Boswell: Well, I'm just casually looking right now, but I wanted to be prepared if I saw something I liked. 22 months ago
Mayra Arreola: Definitely ask questions and do some research on your own. 22 months ago
Mayra Arreola: The advantage of having a broker is that they handle the work that you would end up doing yourself if you went directly to lenders. If you do get a broker, make sure that you get the best interest rate, get the lowest rate locked right away, and carefully look over and ask questions about their GFE, good faith estimate. 22 months ago
Mayra Arreola: You can negotiate rates, points, fees listed on the GFE with your broker. 22 months ago

Vince Lombardi [+] — recommended by Louis Csontos (22 months ago)

Vince is the guy that Ju-Djuin and I used. He's a nice guy, easy going and knowledgeable. He's easy to work with, but I found I had to check in with him more so than him calling me.

It was good to have him because I could call and ask questions and he had a working relationship with my real estate agent so they could communicate and handle stuff independently of my involvement. Also he could monitor rates and lock in a good rate.

The most important things are A) ask a lot of questions B) shop around and don't feel pressure to commit , and C) don't believe an abnormally low rate.

I'm sure you've heard of bankrate.com too.

My golf friend is a Realtor and has worked well with this guy. Ask for Rod Lenders himself.

Same Realtor friend said these people are also good to deal with. Ask for Sue Martz. Call me and I'll give you my friend's name to use as a reference.

Fidelity Home Loans [+] — recommended by Mayra Arreola (22 months ago)
9155 Telegraph Road, Pico Rivera, CA
I have been working with Victor from Fidelity and he has been very helpful. He has efficient about keeping me informed. Before I even think about calling him, he has already sent an email, a text, or has called my agent to tell her what is going on with my escrow process. Let me know if you are interested and I will give you his cell number. Good luck!!
